Successful 8th German-Russian Logistics Forum in Hybrid Format

Deutsch-russisches Logistik-Forum

More than 200 participants from Russia, Germany and other countries illustrate the success of the 8th German-Russian Logistics Forum, which was held in hybrid format on 13.04.2021 in the LNC studio "TRANS4LOG" in Hanover.

On the occasion of the trade fair TransRussia, the promotional association Logistics Alliance Germany e. V. held the already traditional event as a digital event, which could be combined with a live event in Moscow thanks to the support of local partners.

The Logistics Forum has established itself as a platform for the exchange of ideas on logistics issues between Russia and Germany. Under the motto #Logistikverbindet, this year's event focused on how logistics chains and networks can be maintained under difficult conditions in the current situation.

Speakers highlighted many examples of the emergence and development of new multimodal logistics chains between Germany and Russia. Representatives from the ports of Hamburg, Lübeck, Rostock and Sassnitz emphasized the importance of transports to and from Russia for the German North Sea and Baltic Sea ports. Speakers from Russia highlighted the potential of the international North-South corridor, which also means diverse developments in the Caspian ports. Linked to this is the development of logistics zones and modern terminals for handling containers and other goods. In many cases, cooperation between Russian and German logistics service providers plays an important role. All speakers agreed that digitalization is becoming increasingly important for all players and requires even more cross-border cooperation for sustainable transport chains and logistics systems of the future.

Steffen Bilger MdB, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and Federal Government Coordinator for Freight Transport and Logistics, and Christian Pegel, Minister for Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalization of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, regretted that the German-Russian Logistics Forum could not take place as a joint event in Moscow for the second time in a row and that the planned trip to TransRussia had to be cancelled. However, they also expressed their pleasure that the event will be consistently continued and that the situation will develop in such a way that meetings will be possible again. All participants very much wish that the next German-Russian Logistics Forum can take place in Moscow again, with optional online participation seen as a major advantage.
